broken

My cat went out and got himself broken last Wednesday. Without going into all the gory details, I'll just say that at this point all I want is for him to stay out of the hospital and come home to heal. I miss him more than anything.

glimpse of japan series

Number 10 of 10 in a series of slides ("Glimpse of Japan Series; Four Seasons of Japan") I bought on Ebay: Kinkakuji (Gold Pavilion) In Snow.

'Last but not least is the scene of the Kinkakuji or Gold Pavilion covered with snow, which presents the most superd (sic) view. Located at the foot of Mt. Kitayama in Kyoto, the Gold Pavilion, brilliant in golden color, displays its unsurpassed beauty especially in a snow scene. This temple is said to have been the abode of the Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, who spend (sic) his old age here enjoying leisurely days and holding elaborate tea parties. After standing for more than 550 years, the original structure was destroyed recently by an ominous fire but it has been restored to the vivid features of its former gorgeousness.'

glimpse of japan series

Number 4 of 10 in a series of slides ("Glimpse of Japan Series; Four Seasons of Japan") I bought on Ebay: Transplanting Rice Seedlings.

'In the farming hamlets of the Kanto district, the transplanting of rice seedlings starts from the middle of May to the end of June. For the people who live on rice, the transplanting, by all the members of the family, of rice seedlings which have been cultivated in a seedbed, presents an unforgettable scene of the season. Like the harvesting season in autumn, this is extremely busy time for farmers. (Reproduced here is the scene at Osato County, Saitama Prefecture.)'
